2016 FAMU Alumni Gala Student Scholarship Recipients
The Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of the FAMU Alumni Association recently held its Annual Orange and Green Gala at the 9th Street Renaissance, to a standing room only crowd. The event drew alumni members from across the State.
According to the event’s keynote speaker, Lt. Colonel Gregory L. Clark, since 1901, the FAMU National Alumni Association has been a fundraising arm and an advocacy vehicle for the institution and its students. The members of 50+ chapters work tirelessly to raise funds for scholarships, recruit talented students to attend FAMU, and advocate for FAMU’s stability in ever-changing political climates.
The NAA is FAMU’s oldest and largest direct support organization and the generous contributions made by the members, through money, time and expertise, have a significant impact on FAMU’s bottom line.Scholarships in various amounts were awarded to several young people to further their education.
Hats off to Gala chairperson, Angel “Cookie” Hill, members of the local alumni for hosting an outstanding event.
