GBM Announces Celebrity Guests at 2017 Teen Summit

SARASOTA, FL – Organizers and partners of the 8th Annual Greatness Beyond Measure Teen Summit are proud to announce the lineup of special guests at this year’s event. The celebrity guests and motivational speakers are BET Host and author Fonzworth Bentley and BMW of North America executive Kimberly Byars. Byars will speak at the GBM Shark Tank about the “Power of Hello.” A musical group called Glamour will perform at the GBM Teen IDOL Talent Showcase. The threesome was formed by industry veteran Kandi Burruss of Xscape, star of the Bravo reality television series, “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” All events will take place July 29-31 at venues in Sarasota.

Fonzworth Bentley, born Derrick Watson, stepped on the scene as Sean “Diddy” Comb’s valet and assistant in the reality TV show “Making the Band 2.” The Georgia native is a musician and an author who has appeared in music videos, such as Usher’s “Yeah” and OutKast’s “The Way You Move.” Bentley appears on BET’s “Lift Every Voice” and published a book about etiquette , “Advance Your Swagger: How to Use Manners, Confidence and Style to Get Ahead.” He is former host of the Jamie Foxx created reality show “From G’s to Gents.”

Glamour, an R&B girl group featuring Kaylan, Moriah and Lady are between ages 15 – 16 and were dubbed “Baby Destiny’s Child” by celebrity judge Kelly Rowland after an appearance on “The X Factor.” The young performers will headline GBM’s annual talent competition on Sat. July 30, 7:30 p.m. at the Ringling College of Art and Design Auditorium. Spoken word and rap artists, dance and step teams such as “All or Nothing Dance Crew,” the “Leaders of Legacy” Step Team, the “Movers Dance Crew,” the Maculele Capoeira Martial Artists, Milan Wujnovich and “13th Disciple” will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Fri. July 29 at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex.

The GBM Internship and Scholarship Expo is20 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. on July 30 at Ringling College. Students will find out about organizations that offer college scholarships and ask questions about the application process. All weekend activities empower teens, equip them with tools for success at school and in life; and provide a positive platform to showcase their talents. Founded by Melanie Thomas, the summit helps students hone their leadership skills and focus on careers in traditional and non-traditional fields.
