Meet James Hamilton MCAT’s 2015 Paratransit Operator of the Year


James Hamilton, has been a dedicated Manatee County Paratransit Operator since 2002. James is always compassionate, fully understands his customers and continues to demonstrate good customer service. This has been shown in previous letters and comments received from our Paratransit customers and staff members.

Mr. Hamilton served twenty years in the United States Army before being employed with Manatee County Area Transit. He has over (13) thirteen years’ experience in transporting dis- advantaged passengers at adult day facilities, dialysis, medical, Veterans and other life-sustaining trips. James will often go above and beyond the call of duty. His attention to detail, professional appearance, safe driving record, genuine personality and good customer service are outstanding traits and are excellent examples of a Paratransit Operator.

James’ hard work and dedication to his job are nothing short of exemplary. James continues to help homeless Veterans find stable housing, this is shown by his success in getting housing approvals through the Housing and Urban Development Program (HUD) and assisting Veterans when they move into the Manatee Veterans Village. James is an active member of Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) and puts his energy and passion into this important program.

James has successfully completed the Driver Improvement Training Program, CPR Training, Drug and Alcohol Training, Annual Wheelchair Training, Introduction of Developmental Disabilities, Health and Safety, and Zero Tolerance. He has also received (7) seven perfect attendance awards, has been accident free for the past nine (9) years and was previously nominated for the TD Program Driver of the Year award in 2013, ADA Transit Operator Refresher Training, and Paratransit Safety Training.

James enjoys fishing, hunting and bowling on his days off and spending quality time with his family.
